Welcome to ancient Rome! Portico, the newest NUMA location in the Italian capital, was named after the arcade that leads to the impressive Pantheon and is considered one of the city’s greatest highlights. But NUMA’s Portico isn’t short on history either—the classic red plaster conceals three stylish floors, right in the heart of Rome’s Campo Marzio district. NUMA Portico reflects the sunny flair and vibrancy of the “Eternal City”, making it the ideal place to go on an authentic journey of discovery in the alleys steeped in history.

At the centre of attention

At NUMA Portico, you’ll find yourself right in the middle of the action. The historic building lies nestled in a lively and central area, a perfect mix of cool alleys and sunny squares. If you get lost in the neighbourhood, don’t worry: sometimes the journey is the destination. And along the way, Rome’s most famous sights await—the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, the Fontana di Trevi and Piazza del Popolo are all within walking distance. When hunger strikes, you’ll always find what you’re looking for in Campo Marzio. In this district, which covers most of the densely populated old town, there are numerous restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy the Italian dolce vita to the fullest. With a full stomach, a walk along the nearby Tiber River is a perfect next step, and on the way back to Portico you can marvel at the beautiful corners of the historic old town.

The influencers of the past

The area around the NUMA Portico is not only pretty to look at—it’s also an essential part of Roman history. Nobles and political elites from all over Italy settled in this neighbourhood, attracted by the fabulous facades and impressive architecture. Soon the “Renaissance Quarter” became a place to see and be seen, and the building that houses Portico was a vital part of that. Cardinals and nobles spent a lot of time here, and you can feel their influences in the old walls to this day. The accommodation design is original, bright, and combines tradition with modernity in the best way. Here you can do as the locals do and sit back sotto i portici—under the entrance—and enjoy dolce far niente (the “sweetness of doing nothing”).
